After speaking with Armidale Police, the preferred procedure is to report all fare evaders to the Police assistance line on 131 444 – this can be done at any time of the day, the phone operator will assist with information required. All events are logged and sent though to the local Police. If one particular name or address ‘pops up’ on the system regularly TAG will investigate. This also helps the Police to tie other smaller crimes together.
After you have an event number, please provide this to the base with as much information as possible regarding the fare details and a record will be kept. Passengers and addresses will be identified though SmartMove bookings if they are known to be fare evaders.
